Auckland Heritage Festival 2023
September 14th, 2023
Event details:
A rare opportunity to see what is arguably New Zealand’s coolest mid-century modernist home.
Built in 1947 with an entirely European ‘sugar cube’ modernist aesthetic, it belonged to Tibor Donner, Auckland’s first city architect.
The Parnell and Point Erin swimming baths, many libraries and other council-owned facilities like Ellen Melville Hall were designed during his tenure.
Donner’s studio and workshop buildings can be viewed after a short talk from the present owner.
Paul Jenkin, owner of Donner House will give a quick talk on the hour, each hour.
