Lasercut Iris Door
A Mechanical Iris Door that is constructed out of 3mm MDF, 3mm acrylic (optional), nuts, bolts and washers. Fully laser cut aside from bolts, nuts and washers.
The iris dilates and opens through a twisting motion. When twisted, the control arms rotate and pull the doors open. This can be applied to other various architectural applications such as doors, windows and facades. Progression of this project may look like a dynamic façade that utilizes this mechanism; by linking it to a servo motor that opens the iris door triggered by a light sensor or day timer.
